Des Plaines Toastmasters to celebrate 65th birthday

Members of Des Plaines Toastmasters 1645 will gather on Nov. 4 to celebrate the club's 65th anniversary from 6:30-8:45 p.m. at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St., Des Plaines. The club was originally chartered in September 1954.

Des Plaines Toastmasters is inviting all former members living in the Chicago metropolitan area to join in celebrating this event.

If you are a former member of the club, use the Eventbrite Interest Survey registration link at tinyurl.com/65Anniversary to update your contact information, share a remembrance of a past member or favorite club activity, and indicate if you will join the festivities Nov. 4.

If you know of a former member that should be invited, forward this information to them, leave a telephone message at (847) 823-1777 or email vppr-1645@toastmastersclubs.org with their name and contact information so an invite can be sent.

The anniversary party will include a short meeting with current and former member performing meeting roles; opportunities for former and current members to mix and mingle; and a decorated cake.

Membership in Toastmasters has always been open to adults 18 or older, who are committed to improving their communication and leadership abilities. To become a member of Des Plaines Toastmasters, you must attend at least one regular meeting to observe, meet the friendly, ethnically-diverse members, and complete an application with payment.

Meetings are held from 7-8:35 p.m. first and third Mondays monthly in Room A at Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood.
