Judson soccer game can be seen live on campus

With the 2007 NAIA National Tournament for men's soccer starting today, the Judson University athletic department will provide a way for all fans to watch the match. A feature the NAIA is doing this season is streaming the games over the Internet.

The Judson University athletic department invites all students, faculty, staff, fans, family members, and anybody that is a Judson fan to come to the Judson chapel today to watch the match on the big screen. JU will be streaming the match onto the screen in the chapel for everyone to watch.

Judson will face Mid-Continent at 4:30 p.m. in Olathe, Kan., in the first round of the NAIA Tournament. The doors will open at 4:15 p.m. for fans to the chapel to watch the match at no cost.

If JU wins today, the Thursday game also will be seen in the chapel at 4:30 p.m. at no cost.

Men's soccer

Judson awards: Continuing to receive awards, the Judson University men's soccer team added three more awards with three players named to the NAIA Region VII team. Senior's Steven Moldenhauer and Mark Howlett along with sophomore Gustavo Oliveira received the awards.

Moldenhauer, who was the CCAC Player of the Year, helped to lead a strong JU defense with six shutouts on the season. He also scored two goals and has two assists on the year. Besides being the CCAC Player of the Year, he was also named to the all-CCAC first team.

Repeating as an All-Region player is Howlett. He has scored 16 goals on the year and leads JU in goals and points (29). He scored the third goal vs. St. Xavier in the NAIA Regional semifinals and then had two goals in a 4-1 win over St. Ambrose in the NAIA regional championship. He was the CCAC Player of the Week twice and named to the all-CCAC first team.

Oliveira is the final selection on the all-Region team. He has 10 goals and 13 assists for 33 points and leads JU in assists. He scored two of the four goals vs. St. Ambrose in the NAIA Regional championship. He has been the CCAC Player of the Week once and also the NCCAA National Player of the Week.

Women's basketball

Johns player of week: By helping Judson upset No. 11 Taylor University, sophomore Kirstin Johns earned the first CCAC women's basketball Player of the Week award for Division II. She helped JU come from behind and defeat Taylor University, 61-55.

In her first game of the year, Johns came off the bench to provide Judson with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor. She also had 2 steals and 2 assists in the win.

Judson, down by 35-24 at the half, outscored Taylor 37-20 in the second half for the win. JU held TU to just six shots made from the floor and forced 32 turnovers while picking up 22 steals.

Boys basketball

Junior Charger tryouts: Tryouts for the Dundee-Crown Junior Charger basketball program for boys will be held on Saturday, December 1, from 1-3 p.m., Wednesday December 5, from 7-9 p.m., and Saturday December 8, from 1-3 p.m., in the Dundee-Crown field house. All sixth, seventh, and eighth grade boys who plan to attend Dundee-Crown High School are eligible. There is currently a coaching vacancy for the seventh grade team.

There will also be a parents meeting for parents of potential players at the Dundee Township Park District Recreation Center on Monday, November 26, at 7:30 p.m.
