Join Lions Club Christmas Decorating Contest

Sarah Prah and her family enjoy looking at well decorated homes during the holidays.

"It's always been a tradition in our family to get in the car and see all the best decorations," she said.

Prah would like more families to have the same tradition and she thinks that the Lions Club can help, through its Christmas Decorating Contest.

Families who enter their home in the Lions contest will be placed on a list so other residents can travel around North Aurora and be sure to see all the bestlights.

Prah asks that North Aurora residents who want to enter their house in the contest get entry forms from Messenger Public Library, Old Second National Bank, Valley Community Bank, Woodman's and village hall.

All applications are due by noon Nov. 30 by mailing the forms to North Aurora Lions, P.O. Box 35, North Aurora, IL 60542.

Entrants must keep their displays set up and lit each evening until Jan. 1.

The Lions Club will award prizes of $150, $100 and $50 for the first three homes in the religious, festive and neighborhood theme categories.

Residents are encouraged to visit all the houses and vote for their favorites by Dec. 22. Winners will be announced Dec. 22 on the Lions Web site, www.northauroralions.org.

"We want the contest to get bigger and bigger each year," Prah said. Her husband decorates their home on a grand scale every Christmas.

"We'd love to get more neighborhoods involved in decorating together and entering," Prah said.
