ECC jazz ensemble to perform in concert

The Elgin Community College Vocal Jazz Ensemble will present "Cool Winter Jazz" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Blizzard Theater in the ECC Visual and Performing Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Director John G. Slawson opens the Vocal Jazz Ensemble's season. Slawson, ECC professor of music, director of choral studies and artistic director of ECC's Musical Theatre, celebrates 22 years of teaching and choral conducting at ECC. He founded the Concert Choir in 1987 and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble in 2000.

Tickets are $8 for adults or $6 for students and seniors.
