Drumming circle to be at Elgin Public Museum

On Sunday, bring your hand drum or rattle to the Elgin Public Museum and join in sharing Native American songs and stories to promote healing and good life.

An Ojibway Teachings and Drum Circle program will be conducted by Ron Kanutski, Little Medicine Wheel Cloud of the Bear Clan, who lives in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

He will lead a ceremony to remind you to remain connected to your heart, mind, body and spirit and inspire you to look at your tomorrows with strength, hope and inspiration. He is a tribal member of Opwaagaanassining First Nation Ojibway.

His gift is his natural ability to blend traditional Ojibway healing methods and ceremonies shared by the Elders, with mainstream healing modalities. He is a cultural teacher and facilitator who has worked in the human services field for 17 years.

The program is from 1 to 3 p.m. at the museum, 225 Grand Blvd., Lords Park, Elgin. There is no charge for this event, but a $5 donation is suggested.

Attendees may bring their drums if they would like to participate in the ceremonies. For details, call (847) 741-6655 or visit www. elginpublicmuseum.org.
