Police beat

• An Elgin woman was arrested on a Montgomery County, Texas, warrant for failure to register as a sex offender and failure to report a change of address, police said. Cheri White, 41, of 530 Locust St., will be in Elgin bond court today for an extradition hearing. In the meantime, she remains at the Elgin lockup.

• A Chicago man found sleeping at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday in Newsome Park was arrested on drug charges. Quantel E. Morris, 34, of 10437 S. Wabash, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana after small amounts of crack cocaine and marijuana were found, police said. Morris was unable to post $1,000 for bond and was taken to the Kane County jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 19 in St. Charles.

• A 30-year-old Elgin man was accused of punching a woman and a 12-year-old girl, breaking a cell phone, grabbing another phone and refusing to allow two people to leave an apartment at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 1200 block of Amanda Circle. Sharue Martin of 971 S. Liberty St. was charged with unlawful restraint, two counts of domestic battery, two counts of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence and criminal damage to property, police said. Martin was unable to post a $2,500 bond and was taken to the Kane County jail. His next court date is on Nov. 15 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

• Two screw guns, three leather tool belts with hand tools and a generator valued at a total of $1,490 were stolen between 3 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday from a home under construction on the 3600 block of Broadleaf.

West Dundee

• A clerk at the Icing Store, 1093 Spring Hill Mall, was accused Tuesday of completing fraudulent return receipts on Oct. 18, 20, 24 and 27 for a total of $420.70. Jennifer U. Park, 19, of 426 Windham Trail, Carpentersville, was charged with felony retail theft, police said. Park was released on her signature with a $1,000 recognizance bond. Her next court date is on Nov. 15 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

• An Elgin man tried to cash a check at a West Dundee bank on Tuesday and used a fake ID card, police said. Jesus Cabrera, 29, of 1874 Mark Ave. #1, was charged with possession of a fraudulent identification card, police said. Cabrera was released after posting a $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear at the Kane County Judicial Center on Nov. 14.
