Sox set to sign Linebrink
The White Sox wanted Gold Glove center fielder Torii Hunter. For now, it looks like they'll settle for veteran relief pitcher Scott Linebrink.
According to several reports, the Sox are expected to sign Linebrink to a four-year, $19 million contract early next week.
Hunter signed a five-year, $90 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.
Linebrink, 31, was a combined 5-6 with a 3.71 ERA in 71 appearances for the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers last season. He is expected to set up Sox closer Bobby Jenks.
