Thanksgiving, and a misguided war

At Thanksgiving, I realize how fortunate I am to be able to celebrate this special holiday with family and friends. At the same time, I realize that U.S. military personnel serving in Iraq will not be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families and friends.

Instead, they will continue to risk their lives in a needless war. How tragic for them and their families as well as for the innocent civilians of Iraq who are caught up in this debacle.

I wonder how many more must lose their lives on both sides of this conflict. I wonder how much more money will be spent on the war when funds are needed at home for education, housing, job training, and health care for our veterans and others I wonder how much longer this war will continue.

It is my hope and prayer that at the end of the Thanksgiving recess, Rep. Mark Kirk does all that he can to help Congress set a deadline to bring the troops home.
