Sharing history, paying respect

Student ambassadors at Lincoln Elementary School in Glen Ellyn have a tradition for Veterans Day.

They meet with veterans.

Each year the fourth-grade students at the school invite military veterans they know, either family members or friends, to the Glen Ellyn school for a celebration. The students sing them patriotic songs, bring them refreshments, introduce them to the audience.

They honor them before a crowd.

And in doing so, they share a bit of history and pay more than a little respect.
