Waukegan Park District notes
Girlz in Transition: The Waukegan Park District has teamed up with Girlz in Transition to encourage young women to participate in community programs that build on their strengths and encourage them to be the best they can be. The Girlz in Transition program will meet in a one-hour group format at 4:30 p.m. (time may be subject to change) Tuesdays for six weeks beginning today, with an appreciation celebration in the sixth week. Each week of the program, the girls will participate in activities that will encourage role playing, leadership skills, self-confidence and positive interaction between girls who usually shy away from interacting with others. Topic discussions will include feuding, leadership, fairness amongst peers, being included, being your own friend first, journaling, self-esteem, communication skills and more.
FitKids: The Waukegan Park District's Field House Sports and Fitness Center will offer FitKids, a program designed to help children ages 7 to 13 learn and appreciate the benefits of daily physical activity.
FitKids will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays for six weeks beginning this Saturday, at the Field House. A Certified Fitness Instructor will guide participants through a variety of fun, physical activities, using balls, bands, hula hoops, jump ropes, games and more.
Register online or at the Field House Sports and Fitness Center, Belvidere Recreation Center, or Jack Benny Center for the Arts.
