Missing the point of Sept. 11 attacks
Is Steven Beisiegel serious? (Daily Herald, Fence Post, Nov. 23) By his reasoning, 9-11 was no big deal because compared to the population of the United States "only 3,000 people were killed."
If we used his reasoning to gauge other tragedies (man-made or not) like Pearl Harbor (2,800 killed), the Munich Olympics hostage crisis (11 killed), or the Chechnya school attack (335 killed), then none of these would be noteworthy.
I'm sure he would think differently if it were one of his relatives who died in these cowardly attacks. I cringe when liberals like Steven start to equate perceived losses of freedom to actual losses of innocent life at the hands of terrorists.
To answer his last question, what we've stooped to, Steven, is a country that since 9-11, in spite of the efforts of organizations like the ACLU and people like yourself, has prevented any terrorist attacks on our soil; and that's a good thing in case you didn't know.
