Officials: Glennshire water money can be used for any plan

The money approved for a Glennshire water fix can be applied toward any plan the residents want, Lake County officials say.

County Commissioner Pamela Newton, who represents the area that includes the Glennshire water system, said the county will soon clarify its earlier vote to reflect that.

"My formal request is (for) a clarification," Newton said. "That shouldn't be controversial."

The county has voted to apply $1 million toward a new water system for the Glennshire residents. Newton said that money can be used whether the residents choose a new system from the county, the village of Hawthorn Woods or private water provider.

"We have approved a million dollars (for) a response to the solution, to fix the problem," she said. "Regardless of those entities, the money is for the people."
