SIU improves to 10-1 for third time in school history
Nick Hill threw for 282 yards and 3 touchdowns as Southern Illinois beat host Hampton 45-27 Saturday and tied a school record with its 10th regular-season victory.
Hill was 24 of 28 as the Salukis finished the regular season 10-1, matching their records during the 1983 and 2003 seasons.
John Randle scored on a 76-yard run and a 28-yard pass from Hill, and Richard White scored on runs of 2 and 3 yards. Phil Goforth caught 7 passes for a career-high 123 yards.
Southern Illinois finished with 474 yards total offense to Hampton's 411.
Hampton fell to 6-5.
E. Illinois 33, Samford 17 Ademola Adeniji scored 3 touchdowns, including 1 on a 65-yard run, to lead host Eastern Illinois past Samford.
Samford (4-7, 2-6 Ohio Valley) scored early when Mark Prevost kicked a 36-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead with 9:55 left in the first quarter. But Adeniji answered with his 65-yard touchdown, and Eastern Illinois (8-3, 7-1) took a 7-3 with 9:45 left in the quarter.
The Panthers scored twice in the second quarter, including a 3-yard run by Adeniji, and led 24-10 going into the half.
