Turn signals must be used correctly
I great enjoyed two recent Fencepost letters on the matter of "Turn and lane change signal usage." I couldn't agree more.
I would like to add the observation that eight out of every 10 drivers fail to comprehend that turn signals are intended to alert other drivers of an action about to be taken and not to confirm one that already has taken place. Such folks qualify for the "height of redundancy" prize.
Equally, and somewhat more dangerous, are those drivers who blithely activate a turn signal several blocks before they intend to make the turn. Cross traffic can be at serious risk. Happens all the time.
