Join treasure hunt through Elgin

The Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin invites you to stroll and experience the streets of downtown Elgin in a search ofarchitectural details on the historic buildings through pictures and riddles, which were written by kids.

Enjoy the historic atmosphere on a self-guided treasure hunt before winter sets in.

To participate, pick up an "I Spy Downtown" brochure at Al's Cafeand Creamery, 43 DuPage Court, City Hall, 150 Dexter Court; Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave.; and the Downtown Neighborhood Association office, 2 Douglas Ave. Or download a copy off the Web site at www.downtownelgin.org, under "Events."

Completed entries can be returned by Friday at 2 Douglas Ave. between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or slipped through the mail slot. Correct entries will be entered into a raffle for the grand prize, which will be presented at the city's tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 1.

This event is organized by the DNA's Design Committee in an effort to promote and educate kids about the rich and historic architecture of downtown Elgin.
