The briefs

Stabbing suspect sought:

Naperville police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a Sunday afternoon stabbing at the city's downtown train station. An Aurora man reported he had been attacked by an unidentified man who stabbed him in the neck following an argument just before 5 p.m. Sunday. The victim was transported to Edward Hospital where he was treated and released. The suspect is described as being around 50 years old, tall, thin and having gray facial hair. He was last seen wearing a puffy blue coat, dark hat and carrying a red backpack. Video cameras at the train station captured images of the suspect, who apparently was there for hours leading up to the attack. Anyone with information is urged to call police at (630) 420-6726.

Extra leaf collection:

Naperville will be conducting an extra week of leaf collection due to mild weather this autumn. The cycle will begin Monday. Residents should rake all leaves to the curb by Monday for pickup, although it may be a few days before city workers collect the leaves. Branches, twigs and other items that may damage leaf collecting equipment should be removed from the leaf piles. The extra collection cycle may be canceled by bad weather. In that case, city officials urge residents to bag the yard waste and place it curbside for pickup by collectors on the resident's usual garbage pickup days. Yard waste stickers aren't required through Dec. 14. From Dec. 15 until the end of the year, yard waste stickers will be required. City officials added that those stickers expire at the end of the year.

Landscaping survey online:

Naperville is asking residents to participated in an online survey to determine preferences for roadway median landscaping improvements along Washington and 87th streets. The survey is available through Dec. 10 at the city's Web site, www.naperville.il.us. Survey results will be posted early next year.
