Service club seeks care package donations
The Central High School Service Club will be collecting items to make care packages for local military people in Iraq and Afghanistan today to Wednesday. Anything you would like to donate would be greatly appreciated. They also need monetary donations to pay for postage.
The following are some donation suggestions: instant soups, Chex mix, sunflower seeds, peanuts, trail mix, dry cereal, tuna packs, cookies, crackers, power drinks like Gatorade, Skittles, gum, hard candies, Easy Mac, microwave popcorn, snacks, hot sauces, sunscreen, packets of baby wipes, Avon Skin So Soft, disposable razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, after-shave, cotton balls, undershirts, shave gel, cocoa butter body lotion, deodorant, eye wash (like Visine), Frisbee flying discs, playing cards, books, magazines, small mirrors, wash cloths, towels, Nerf balls, Clorox wipes, board games, AA alkaline batteries, pre-paid phone cards, and Ziploc bags.
Food items are by far the most popular requests. No pork or pork products, alcohol, pornography or glass containers are allowed. Include plastic utensils with food items. Liquid and scented items should be put in Ziploc bags.
The service club also is looking for addresses of family or friends in the Burlington or Hampshire area who are currently serving in the military in Iraq or Afghanistan. They plan to send the care packages this month.
Send your suggestions to Sue Zagorski, Central High School, P.O. Box 68, Burlington IL 60109 or e-mail szagorski@burlington.k12.il.us.
