Michigan St. 35, Penn St. 31
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State expects to be in a bowl game for the first time since 2003 after its come-from-behind victory Saturday over Penn State.
Jehuu Caulcrick's 1-yard touchdown plunge with just more than four minutes remaining capped a wild 35-31 win for the Spartans, who likely will be headed to Tempe, Ariz., for the Insight Bowl or Detroit for the Motor City Bowl.
It's a huge boost for the Spartans (7-5, 3-5 Big Ten) under first-year coach Mark Dantonio.
"I guess that's why they call it emotion. I can't express it," Dantonio said after Saturday's win in the regular-season finale.
"We said early in the year we wanted to be a better team at the end of the year than we were at the beginning," Dantonio said. "I think we are."
Penn State (8-4, 4-4) -- which lost a 17-point second-half lead -- also will be bowl bound for the 34th time under coach Joe Paterno.
Michigan State quarterback Brian Hoyer was 16 of 21 for 257 yards and 4 TDs, including 3 to receiver Devin Thomas. Hoyer also threw 2 interceptions.
