Football club raising money to fight cancer

Chicago Thunder Football Club is raising funds to fight a rare cancer.

Bingo games are planned at 7 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning Wednesday at Huntley American Legion Hall, 11712 Coral St. Huntley. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Chicago Thunder Football Club, conceived 14 years ago as a means to help underprivileged kids play organized sports, is now a nationally ranked semi-pro football team.

This organization has dedicated its fundraising efforts to assist children's charities.

Friends for Patsy is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to assist families undergoing treatment for Ewing's Sarcoma. ES is considered a rare, pediatric bone cancer that requires very aggressive treatment that can take quite a financial toll.

The survival rate isn't as promising as it should be. Cancer research funds are directed to the more well-known cancers, resulting in a lack of more effective treatment options.
