Blast finish fall season

U-8 Chicago Blast Silver: The Blast concluded the fall outdoor season with a doubleheader Oct. 28, traveling to play the Team Chicago Torpedos and then the Panthers of Oswego Defenders.

The Blast beat the Team Chicago Torpedos in the morning game 4-2. Ron Marchionna scored 2 goals for the Blast and Sam O'Connor added a goal and 2 assists.

The Blast started its afternoon game a man short and quickly fell behind 2-0 in the first quarter. But the Blast came back with 4 unanswered goals to take a 4-2 lead early in the third quarter. The Blast went on to a 9-3 win.

O'Connor scored 3 goals in the match. Marchionna added 3 goals and shared goalkeeping duties with O'Connor, Ben Utz and Nick Beaulieu.

Also scoring were Ryan Turgeon, Beaulieu and Utz. Grant Frieh and David Medina controlled the midfield in both games, and Thomas Snell was dominant on defense.

The U-8 Blast finished its first season together with a record of 9-0-1, good for first place in the NISL U-8 Blue-South Division.
