Mexican restaurant chain to make food donations

It is the season for giving. La Quebrada Restaurants will take the lead today by donating food for families who were devastated by the severe flooding in Tabasco, Mexico, a month ago, along with donating to Illinois residents.

All four of the restaurant's Chicago area locations, including the Elgin location at 148 E. Highland Ave., will be serving local families and sending care packages to families in Mexico.

Businesses and the public are invited to donate canned food and other nonperishables by dropping items at the Elgin restaurant.

Radio personality, Abel Vences from La Que Buena 105.1 FM will cover the all-day event, touring each of the four restaurant locations throughout the day. Vences will stop at the Elgin location from 3 to 7 p.m.
