Father jailed after son's bond hearing
A Hampshire man attending a bond hearing for his son Saturday morning was jailed after he kicked and broke a glass door at the Kane County jail, police said.
Ronald Aniballi, 51, of 8415N92 Pheasant Field Lane, was charged with criminal damage to state-supported property, attempted battery to a police officer and resisting arrest, according to court records.
Aniballi was at the jail in Geneva to attend the bond hearing for his son.
Michael Aniballi, 26, of 7012 Ashland Ave., Chicago, had been charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest when he was stopped at 5 a.m. Saturday on Big Timber Road, police said.
The Gilberts officer said he asked the younger Aniballi to drop a cell phone he held in his hand when he was arrested, but Aniballi refused and a scuffle ensued.
Michael Aniballi struck the officer in the mouth before he was handcuffed and taken to the Gilberts police station, police said.
According to witnesses in the lobby of the Kane County jail Saturday, Ronald Aniballi was taunting the Gilberts officer who arrested his son with verbal obscenities and obscene gestures.
When the Kane County court services officer told Aniballi to sit down and be quiet, he continued his taunting and was escorted to the door, police said.
Ronald Aniballi attempted to kick the court security officer, missed, struck the door with his foot and the glass shattered, police said.
Both Aniballis were released from jail Sunday. Ronald Aniballi posted a $500 bond and Michael Aniballi posted $1,500.
