Briefs: Chamber leader named

The GLMV Chamber of Commerce on Friday announced Mark P. Foley has been named its new executive director. Foley had served as director of development and auxiliary services for Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for 10 years. He replaces B. Dwight Houchins, who left the post in May.

Award nominees sought

The Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting excellence award nominations from chamber members and nonmembers by 5 p.m. Monday. Nominations are sought in the following categories: director of the year, architectural expansion, interior improvement, marketing, magnet, outstanding educator, outstanding government employee, outstanding public servant, chamber partnership, outstanding volunteer. Recommendations should include the award category, name of the recipient, company/organization and reason why he or she is being nominated. CLC features the movies

"The Show Goes On," a concert featuring selections from musical theater and the movies, will be presented by the College of Lake County concert band at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8. Paul Hefner will direct the 35-member ensemble in a program that will include musical selections such as "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Sammy Nestico and "Highlights from Show Boat" by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein . The concert will be held in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on the CLC Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $4 for CLC students and staff, seniors older than 65 and children.
