Elgin groups plan 'Day for Kids'

The Boys and Girls Club of Elgin, the Elgin Parks and Recreation Department, the Elgin Police Department, Unilever and Hamilton Wings have joined efforts to celebrate "Day for Kids" on Sunday.

The event, with hundreds of parents and kids participating, will be celebrated from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way.

All families experience the pressures of contemporary life, regardless of economic status, ethnicity, cultural background or location. These pressures directly affect the amount of positive, quality time they are able to devote to their children.

Day for Kids gives the opportunity for every adult to take a break and celebrate and renew their commitment to children.

Parents and children are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities.

Local nonprofit groups will set up booths inside The Centre for an agency fair. There will be food, games and prizes, as well as information about after-school programs and other service areas.

Youth from these agencies also have helped plan and market this event. For details, call (847) 608-5018 or visit www. boysandgirlsclubofelgin.org.
