Father in home drug case freed

A judge lowered bond Wednesday for an Algonquin man charged last month with running a home-based drug-dealing operation in front of his teenage children.

Roger A. Sheetz Jr., 38, was released on $5,000 bond after Judge Sharon Prather agreed to reduce it from $15,000, initially set after his Oct. 17 arrest.

Sheetz faces 10 drug charges, including seven felonies, alleging he possessed and planned to deliver about 20 grams of cocaine and 200 grams of cannabis out of his residence.

Arrested that day along with him were his son, Roger A. Sheetz III, 19, and daughter Brittany M. Sheetz, 18, on drug-related misdemeanor charges. Police indicated there is no evidence the teens directly took part in drug trafficking, but said they likely were aware of their father's activities.
