Norris Gallery seeks work for exhibition

The Norris Gallery in the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles is seeking entries for its upcoming exhibition "It's Only Paper!"

The many ways paper is used to create a piece of art, or as a surface for printing or painting artwork, will be the focus of this show. Paper collage, paper sculpture and other two- and three-dimensional artwork making use of commercial or handmade paper, along with drawings, watercolors, pastels, prints, photography, digital imaging, or other works on paper, can be entered.

The show will run Jan. 19 to March 1. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Artists are invited to submit up to four standard 35 mm slides or up to four digital images as jpeg files on a CD. Slides are preferred.

On each slide the artist's name, slide number, medium, height and width of the finished/framed work, and the top of the slide should be indicated. If submitting a CD, the entry should include a sheet listing the artist's name, the medium, title, a brief description, and the finished/framed height and width of each work.

A $20 nonrefundable entry fee and a self-addressed, stamped envelope must accompany the entry.

Entries can be mailed to the Norris Gallery, P.O. Box 3340. St. Charles, IL, 60174 and should be postmarked no later than Friday. Entries also can be dropped off at the Norris box office, 1040 Dunham Road, St. Charles, on or before that date. Indicate name of show on envelope.

After the entries are reviewed by the Norris Gallery Committee they will be returned to the artist in the envelope/packaging provided by the artist, along with notification of acceptance or rejection and a show contract for any work accepted.
