Student shot near U. of C. campus

Officials with the University of Chicago say a 28-year-old international student was shot and killed early Monday morning while walking near campus. University President Robert Zimmer said in a statement that police are investigating the shooting death of graduate chemistry student Amadou Cisse. Zimmer said police were increasing patrols after two other violent incidents were reported near the campus Sunday night as well. Zimmer also said the school was working with Chicago police to evaluate what other steps are needed to ensure safety around campus.
