Dist. 103 gets glowing report
Katrina Bruley said receiving Lincolnshire-Prairie View District 103's report card results is a validation that what they are doing works with the children.
"Kids are learning and they are learning at high levels which is important to us," said Bruley, the district's assistant superintendent for instruction.
The 2007 report cards were based on results from the Illinois Standards Achievement Tests administered last March.
Overall, this year's ISAT results in reading, math and science indicated 96.3 percent of all students scored in the meeting and exceeding standards category.
The results outpaced the overall 2007 ISAT performance for the state, which measured 73.8 percent.
Also, District 103's overall result exceeded its own result from the prior year, which was 95.5 percent.
"Our intent is to improve in the meets and exceeds category," Bruley said. "We're never satisfied where we are. We always want to continue to improve."
Students in District 103 achieved at levels above state standards in all testing areas.
District 103 includes Sprague School for kindergarten through second grades, Half Day School for third and fourth grades and Daniel Wright Junior High School for fifth through eighth grades.
Nearly 95 percent of all students scored in the meeting and exceeding standards categories for reading, and more than 97 percent scored in those categories for math.
With all of District 103 subcategory scores above the state targets, the district once again met the goal for attaining Adequate Yearly Progress as required by No Child Left Behind.
Bruley said the results demonstrate a joint effort by students, staff and the community who focus on learning.
"We are fortunate our students come to school ready to learn and (we have) a community that values education," she said.
