Lions Club invites all to holiday party

The Elgin Lions Club invites the community to its Christmas party at 6 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road, Elgin. Non-members and their families are welcome to attend.

After dinner, the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin will perform holiday songs. Children of various ages, along with their conductor/instructor, have been performing at the Elgin Lions Club Christmas Party for many years. New this year is Elgin resident Mary Lou Hawley with Danny and Friends. This was made possible from garage sale proceeds of items donated from the Elgin Lions and some generous Valley Creek neighbors of Lion Gretchen Carson.

Hawley is a ventriloquist, first-person storyteller and puppeteer. She has performed with Danny and Friends for the last 39 years, speaking at camps, retreats, fairs, churches, vacation Bible school programs, on TV and at school assemblies. She has been a full-time special education teacher for 15 years.
