The Women's Club of St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva will present its annual fashion show, "Wonderland of Fashion," Thursday at Pipers Banquets at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 501, 1295 Butterfield Road in Aurora, just west of Kirk Road.

Fashions from area shops will be featured. Colour Line of Geneva is donating hair and make-up services for the show.

The evening will include a basket raffle with prizes donated by area businesses and by St. Peter Women's Club Guilds, and a cash raffle with a chance to win $500 or $250. Cash raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, and winners need not be present.

Area individuals or businesses wishing to give a donation for the fashion show basket raffles such as merchandise, airline tickets, timeshares, etc. may call Shari Neeley at (630) 845-1642. New businesses geared toward women are also invited to promote their businesses by incorporating promotional items in the fashion show favors.

The evening begins with cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. featuring a choice of herbed lemon chicken topped with cognac cream sauce or baked orange roughy topped with slivered almonds.

Tickets for the event are $38 per person and $32 for seniors. Groups may reserve tables of 10.

Half of the proceeds from this event will go toward the Women's Club's Women's Mite Fund which is used to help those in need within St. Peter Parish. The Valley Model Railroad Club of South Elgin will hold an open house from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the old Clintonville Station on Kenyon Road, a quarter mile west of Route 25 in South Elgin. A Montessori Academy PPO barbecue fundraiser is from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 16 Junior high students will be running orders to cars as they drive through the campus.

Choice are a pork chop dinner, 2 chops; Half-Chicken dinner or a Combo including a chop and a quarter chicken. All dinners include applesauce, baked beans, coleslaw, roll and butter.

The Fox River - Geneva American Legion Post 75 will be holding its annual Turkey Raffle on from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Post Hall, 2nd & James, Geneva.

You can earn a gift certificate to a restaurant, landscaping services, beauty salons, shopping certificates and of course turkeys at the raffles. Enjoy complimentary hot dogs and chili. A cash bar will be open with mixed drinks, beer, wine and soft drinks.

All proceeds go to making the holidays brighter for all veterans, and most importantly those that are hospitalized at this time of year, by providing gifts and much needed necessities.

You can join Suicide Prevention Services for their "Harvest of Hope" Brunch & Auction on Nov. 18. Participants will enjoy a keynote speech given by Kevin Roy of ABC Channel 7 News, who had a family member die of suicide. A silent auction, elegant brunch and a program of tributes will also help bolster suicide awareness while celebrating life. Contact SPS at (630)482-9699 to reserve a seat. The Geneva Beautification Committee is selling firewood bundles or you can order a face cord to be delivered to your home. The firewood sale benefits the gardening work that the group performs in the downtown Geneva gardens.

Bundles of mixed firewood are available for purchase through early spring for $5 each at the Geneva City Hall parking lot by the utilities bill payment box, between City Hall and Viking Office Supply.

For home delivery, a face cord, 8' L x 4' H x 16" D, of mixed firewood is $80 plus a $20 delivery fee. Firewood stacking is available for $20. Orders can be placed by calling Jim Gehring at (630)208-9453.

A wine tasting sale and silent auction to benefit Elderday Center, an adult day program located in Batavia, is at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at Park National Bank, 808 W. State St., Geneva. The evening will include music by Kate Foley and the Jazz Kickers and appetizers. Wines will be provided by Gibby's Wine Den. Wine will be sold by the bottle, half case and case for the Holidays.

The North Aurora Firefighters Association will hold its annual turkey raffle on Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight. The raffle will be held in the apparatus storage and maintenance building just north of Station No. 1 on Monroe Street.

Firefighters will be raffling off turkeys, hams, steaks, and pork chops both evenings. Food and beverages will be available for purchase with free soda pop for designated drivers. A DJ will be playing music both nights as well.

There will be a grand prize cash drawing on Saturday night as well as progressive cash drawings both evenings. Tickets for the grand prize drawing are $10 each and are being sold in advance by any of the North Aurora firefighters or at the fire station.

All proceeds from this event will go back into the community through donations to organizations and events such as Operation Christmas, the North Aurora Pet Parade, North Aurora Mothers Club, North Aurora Lions Club, North Aurora Baseball Association, public education programs, scholarships, and some fire equipment purchases.
