Bridge invitational

Winning the ACBL duplicate bridge invitational Nov. 17 were Donnelle Brosseau and John Diehl for north-south and Donna Cassavoy and Arvind Shah for east-west. North-south runners up were Susan Mackinney and Julia Worden in second place, Nancy Berg and Kay Burda, third, Jay Kadakia and Ron Schwarz, fourth, and Nancy Riley and Sandy Logan, fifth. For east-west, Betty Smith and Irene Crawford placed second. Michele Taylor and Jeannette Shannon tied with Ed Kain and Frank Greenwald for third place.

Sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League, invitational games are played the first and third Saturdays of each month. The next invitational will be at 12:30 p.m., Saturday in the Prairie Lodge multi-purpose room. For further information contact Grace Selby at (847) 515-2621.

Pinochle

Ed Haberstroh turned in the high score of 667 in the morning pinochle session Nov. 19. Audrey Warnecke was low scorer with 369. Taking double pinochles were Don Glasgow, DeWayne Klein and Norma Schroepel. Carol Love and Dick Wagner -- each played two all-trick hands. Ron Diehl and Art Merkelz had one each. LeRoy Danielson won the round house.

In the afternoon session, Eric Schoenfisch was high scorer with 634. Anita Williams took the low score of 383. Candy Goldfarb and Heinz Toeppich each had a double pinochle. All-tricks went to Rich Curylo, Bev Eisenmenger, Bill Eisenmenger, Marge Frey, Joan Licitra, Love, Betty Smith and Paul Stromberg

Duplicate bridge

Capturing first place in duplicate bridge Nov. 23 were Kay Burda and Ed Kain for north-south and Paul Clark and Irene Crawford for east-west. Betty and Bob Zimmerman came in second for north-south. Jeanette Shannon and Betty Smith were third while Nancy Berg and Grace Selby placed fourth. For east-west, Ann and Pat Danna were second, Donna Cassavoy and Marie Nugent, third and Marilyn Bailey and Joyce Fik, fourth.

In duplicate bridge played Nov. 19, Shirley Bruns and Irene Crawford finished in first place. Carol Smith and Brenda Tomlinson took second place.

Contract bridge

First place in contract bridge Nov. 21 went to Irene Crawford with a score of 5,390. Joyce Fik placed second with 4,860 points. Crawford and Fik also bid and made a grand slam in no trump. John Petras took third place with 4,610. Janice Apel was fourth with 4,470. Pat Danna placed fifth with 4,190, and Shirley Bruns finished sixth with 4,120.

In contract bridge for pairs Nov. 20, Ann and Pat Danna walked off with first place at 4,420 points. Joan Iwinski and Marie Nugent took second place with 4,100. Carolyn and Bob Peterson were third with 3,910. Irene Crawford and Betty Smith took fourth place with 3,840, and Janice Apel and Carol Smith were fifth with 3,320.

Cribbage

Ed Dunn's perfect 484-point score gave him first place in cribbage Nov. 21. Bill Macomb scored 476 to place second. Wally Bartels posted a high individual hand of 24, Pete Moseler, 21, and Tom Fleming, 20. There were two skunks.
