Fatal motorcycle crash victim identified as Aurora man
A 20-year-old Aurora man died from head injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car on the city's near east side Tuesday, authorities said Wednesday.
Police found Martin A. Leon lying in the roadway with massive injuries just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of East New York and Loucks streets.
He was pronounced dead at 4:14 p.m.
Leon apparently had been driving east on New York when his motorcycle collided with a 2005 Honda sedan heading south on Loucks, police said.
Leon was not wearing a helmet, police said.
The Honda driver, a 32-year-old man from Oswego, was uninjured. No passengers were with him, police said.
Witnesses at the scene say Leon may have been with at least one other motorcyclist, and that both appeared to be traveling fast just before the crash, police said.
Due to obvious injuries, no autopsy was done, according to a release Wednesday from the Kane County coroner's office.
The preliminary cause of death is blunt force trauma to the head, it said. Toxicology samples have been sent to a lab for analysis.
Authorities continue to investigate, and anyone with information is asked to call (630) 801-6610.
