Time to impeach, then convict Bush

George W. Bush has done what no power on Earth could do -- brought our country to its knees. The American spirit is low. People are shaking their heads and asking what has happened to such a great nation. One federal initiative after another has gone wrong.

Bush's unnecessary attack on Iraq was a colossal mistake unrivaled in American history.

Never before have we attacked a sovereign nation for such unsubstantiated reasons. His poor judgment has caused death, injury and untold misery for millions upon millions of people. For what?

Our meddling has only made us more enemies. World opinion of our country has plummeted to an all-time low.

The whole initiative was based upon slanted information at best and, at worst, lies.

He even duped respected Colin Powell to further his cause. This deceit comes from our president. Our president.

Bush has refused to secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws, yet touts himself as our defender from terrorist attacks.

Our treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo departs from international norms and has drawn the ire of the world. To see Bush administration members try to justify their treatment of detainees is a national disgrace.

He pardoned Scooter Libby who stonewalled an investigation into who blew the cover of a CIA agent. Coming from the president, that pardon borders on treason.

For the above reasons and more, Congress should lift itself up and fulfill its responsibility to the American people by impeaching and convicting George W. Bush. Yesterday. And Dick Cheney can go along for the ride.
