Join back pain sufferers at ECC seminar

If you are a student who experiences back pain working on homework or an employee who sits at a desk for prolonged periods, then check out an interactive display titled "Office of Horrors" at Elgin Community College on today.

The public is invited to this free event that celebrates national Physical Therapy Month. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hallway outside the cafeteria of the Student Resource Center on the ECC main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Anyone who sits at a desk or uses a computer for a prolonged period of time increases his/her risk for carpal tunnel syndrome, neck strain and lower back pain.

Students from ECC's physical therapist assistant program, along with physical therapists from Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, will demonstrate practical strategies that can be used immediately to minimize the risk of pain and injury.
