Dahl moves to mornings at 104.3

Steve Dahl formally announced on his WCKG 105.9-FM afternoon show Monday that he will be moving to WJMK 104.3-FM as a morning host beginning next week. Dahl's morning hours will be 5:30 to 10.

The move was prompted by an upcoming format change at 'CKG. Informally known as "Jack FM," 'JMK is a sibling station under CBS Radio ownership.

Dahl worked 12 years at 'CKG, but the station failed to weather the loss of syndicated morning host Howard Stern last year. Ratings dropped, although Dahl remained strong in the 25-54 age demographic.

Dahl and his crew will be the only local talent on 'JMK, which otherwise features an automated "we play anything" music format aped from WRZA 99.9-FM.

The upcoming 'CKG format change also prompted the Bulls to announce Monday that they'll be moving their games from 'CKG back to WMVP 1000-AM, starting with the season opener Wednesday.

WCKG kept the format change secret, although other hosts, including Garry Meier, announced Monday was their last day. The station web site said Dahl would continue to air live in the afternoon this week, with the rest of the day filled with "Best of Dahl" segments.
