Best & Brightest

• Meredith L. Wachholz, daughter of Ted and Barbara Wachholz of Arlington Heights, graduated in May from Augustana College in Rock Island with a bachelor of arts degree in English with a concentration in writing.

• Victoria Zimmerman of Arlington Heights, a pre-mortuary science major in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is the recipient of the George Beadle Scholarship, a nonresident full tuition-differential scholarship worth $10,020. Zimmerman is a graduate of Hersey High School.

• Maria Guccione, Joseph Bonasera and Rosanna Laterza, all Arlington Heights residents, were named to the honor's list for the spring 2007 semester at Dominican University, River Forest. Guccione, a graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, is majoring in communications. Bonasera's major is international business and Italian. Laterza is majoring in international business. Both are graduates of Rolling Meadows High School. To qualify, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.00 scale.

• Taylor Lemke of Rolling Meadows was named to the honor's list for the spring 2007 semester at Dominican University, River Forest, for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.00 scale. Lemke, a graduate of Rolling Meadows High School, is majoring in Spanish and Italian.

• Kristina Forstrom of Arlington Heights, a student majoring in biomedical engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, was named to the spring quarter honors list. To qualify students must earning a term grade point average of at least 3.2 out of 4.0 and not be on the dean's list.

• Kristen M. Wellstrom of Arlington Heights, a student pursing bachelor's degrees in biomedical engineering electrical engineering and management at the Milwaukee School of Engineering was named to the dean's list for the spring quarter. To qualify, students must have earned at least 30 credits and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher out of 4.0.

• Matt McFall, a 2007 graduate of Rolling Meadows High School, was awarded the 2007 General Assembly Scholarship to attend Illinois State University, Normal, where he is majoring in criminal justice with a minor in physical education. He received the award at a reception held in July at Oakton Community College.
