Trucks create dust bowl in Wheaton
Gritty greetings from the north side of Wheaton! The tear down developers in Wheaton perform an educational service for our grandchildren, children and young adults. As the uncovered dump trucks rumble through the streets of our Hawthorne neighborhood, they show our younger generations what the dust bowl of the 1930s was like. Even when our car is in the garage, it receives a generous coating of dust each day when another older house is demolished, and a new foundation is dug.
I believe some cities require tarpaulins on dump trucks when they are hauling away dirt. A Wheaton ordinance requiring trucks to cover their loads of dirt might find us spending less time at the car wash and using our dust cloths less frequently.
