AIDS quilt to be at ECC
Elgin Community College will display portions of the AIDS Memorial Quilt today and Wednesday.
During both days, sections of the quilt will be exhibited from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the lounge of the Instruction Center on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, and at the Fountain Square Campus, 51 S. Spring St., Elgin. The display is free and open to the public.
The AIDS Memorial Quilt is considered to be the world's largest ongoing community arts project. The entire quilt, which began in 1987, consists of 46,000 colorful panels and memorializes more than 83,900 people who have died from AIDS.
