No free rides to citizenship

Interesting column from Cynthia Tucker ("Efforts to reform immigration are at square one," Oct. 15) . What path does she propose for these illegal immigrants and where/when will we stop giving these people a free ride?

If Tucker proposes these illegal immigrants a path to citizenship, then let them earn it, especially at the end of the line of those who are doing this legally. Plus, there has to be a quota of immigrants each year into this country.

Our infrastructure is already overburdened. Overseas I had served with a soldier who had a green card, and after he came back from his tour and was honorably discharged from the Army, he was awarded his citizenship by the government. If this is one way to earn the citizenship, then I'll be all for it. Otherwise no free rides like 1986 was!
