Randle, SIU run through Missouri St.
John Randle scored 3 touchdowns to lead Southern Illinois to a 45-10 victory over Missouri State on Saturday in Carbondale.
Salukis quarterback Nick Hill completed 20 of 26 passes for 241 yards and 1 touchdown for SIU (7-1, 3-1 Gateway Conference) but suffered 3 sacks. The Salukis' other 2 touchdowns came on a 28-yard run from Deji Karim and a 58-yard run from Larry Warner. Kyle Dougherty kicked a field goal in the first period.
Missouri State (4-4, 1-3 Gateway Conference) didn't score until the end of the second period with a 37-yard field goal from Nathan Stokes.
Stokes missed a field-goal attempt in the first period. A touchdown came from running back Gerald Davis with 40 seconds left in the third period.
Bears quarterback Cody Kirby threw 2 interceptions and was sacked five times. He completed 17 passes off 33 attempts for 176 yards.
Southern Illinois had 27 first downs compared to Missouri State's 19. The Salukis also bested the Bears in rushing yards 255-84 and passing yards 241-203.
ISU 27, Youngstown St. 22: Geno Blow ran for a 77-yard score, and Jason Horton caught a 69-yard TD for an Illinois State (4-4, 2-2 Gateway) offense that rolled up 453 yards in a victory over host Youngstown State (5-3, 1-2). Blow's first quarter run put the Redbirds on the board after Youngstown State grabbed a 10-0 lead. Horton's touchdown at the end of the half made it 20-13 and put Illinois State in front to stay.
EIU 29, Tennessee-Martin 23: Bodie Reeder threw for 3 touchdowns to lead host Eastern Illinois (5-3, 4-1 Ohio Valley) over Tennessee-Martin (1-7, 1-4). Reeder's last touchdown pass to Ademola Adeniji came as the Panthers were down 23-21 with 1:36 left in the game. Adeniji ran 3 yards to score the TD before Reeder connected with Trent Steckel for a 2-point conversion to make it 29-23.
