Three-time Grammy winner Shawn Colvin will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Elgin Community College's Blizzard Theatre, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Tickets are $38/$34. Elgin Community College will hold its fifth annual Jimmy V "Never Give Up" fundraiser from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Spartan Events Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Funds will be raised through a silent auction held in conjunction with games featuring ECC's basketball teams to benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The first game, featuring ECC's women's basketball team versus Northwestern University Club Team, will begin at 1 p.m. Game two, featuring ECC's men's basketball team, will begin at 3 p.m. Admission is free. All auction bidding will conclude at 4 p.m.

Sons of Norway, Polar Star Lodge, is sponsoring a choral concert at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Douglas Drive and Sherman Avenue in Montgomery. The concert will feature the Grieg Ladies Singing Society and the Normennenes Singing Society.

Organized in 1915, the Grieg Ladies Singing Society was named for Edvard Grieg, composer and founder of the Norwegian nationalist school of music. They promote musical culture by singing in the English and Scandinavian languages.

The Normennenes Singing Society is a Norwegian American group from the Chicago area that upholds Norwegian culture through song and traditional activities. Established in 1870, their repertoire includes religious, patriotic and secular music sung in Norwegian, English, Irish, Swedish and Danish.

After the concert, there will be a taste of Norway with coffee and many traditional Norwegian treats.

Admission will be by free will offering in support of the scholarship fund.

The Grammy Award winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 3, at Ramsey Auditorium in Fermilab's Wilson Hall, Pine Street and Kirk Road, Batavia. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for ages 18 and under. For information, (630) 840-2787.

Led by world famous pianist and arranger Oscar Hernandez, this 13-piece band released its first album in 2002. In 2003, it earned a Grammy nomination in the "Best Salsa Album" category. The recognition continued as the group won the 2003 Latin Billboard Award for "Salsa Album of the Year-Best New Group", and then a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Salsa/Merengue record with "Across 110th Street."

Active Senior Expo is an event dedicated to inform, educate and entertain senior citizens from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at The DuPage Expo Center, 4050 E. Main St. in St. Charles, across from Pheasant Run Resort. Active Senior Expo features hundreds of products and services designed specifically for seniors, including health care, financial, insurance, legal, estate planning, assisted living, retirement communities, home care, travel, vision hearing, consumer products and government programs. Free seminars will be presented on managing finances, safe driving and Medicare. Aurora University will host these events:

• Nov. 9, 10, 14-17: "The Real Inspector Hound," a murder mystery, to be staged at 7:30 p.m. in Perry Theatre at the Aurora Foundation Center, 1305 Kenilworth Place in Aurora.

• Nov. 14-Jan. 4: "Field Sketches Inspired by the Schingoethe Center," an exhibition of paintings and drawings by members of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, Great Lakes chapter, is hosted by the Schingoethe Center in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place, Aurora.

• Dec. 9: "Christmas Concert: Gloria in Excelsis!" classical and popular holiday selections by the University Chorale, will be at 7 p.m. in Crimi Auditorium at the Institute for Collaboration, 407 S. Calumet Ave. in Aurora.
