Two homeless men attacked after coming to woman's aid
Two homeless men in Elgin were beaten about 8:30 p.m. Thursday when they came to the aid of a 44-year-old homeless woman who was being sexually assaulted, police said Friday.
The incident occurred south of National Street on the east bank of the Fox River near the Route 20 overpass.
Police said the group was drinking, and when the man attacked the homeless woman, two men tried to help her and were physically assaulted.
The woman and the two men were taken to Sherman Hospital; the woman and one of the men have since been released.
No information was available on the condition of the other man.
