Harper defeats COD
Everything Harper College football coach Dragan Teonic hoped for the last three weeks has come true.
Teonic expected the Hawks to win their last two regular-season games and they did.
Then he expected the Hawks to be a team no one wanted to play in the Midwest Football Conference East Division playoffs.
College of DuPage wouldn't argue since it won't be playing next week and Harper will.
The third-seeded Hawks (6-4) avenged a midseason loss with a 51-33 victory in Glen Ellyn on Saturday. No. 2 COD won the first meeting 43-27.
Now the Hawks will play for the MFC East championship and a berth in the Graphic Edge Bowl next weekend at top-seeded Joliet, a 26-18 winner over No. 4 Grand Rapids.
Joliet won the season opener in Palatine 29-28 in the final minute.
Last year Harper lost its MFC East semifinal to Grand Rapids.
