Shanahan has done a lot for community

I am very concerned over the firing of Dan Shanahan from our Batavia cable station. If he was fired, as was stated in news stories, over his choice of programming, this smacks of censoring what we, the public, are able to see on this public station.

How is it possible that the board that oversees this entity allowed this?

It was Dan who, from its beginning, formed this station to become the most outstanding cable station in the Chicago area -- spawning four classes in our high school where young people are prepared to go further in this medium. It was Dan who has for years appeared at local volunteer groups to help publicize their efforts, setting up the camera and filming through what was no doubt many boring hours.

I hope the city council will look into this matter and remand Dan's firing.
