Alvarado, Rockets net soccer triumph

Enrique Alvarado scored 2 goals Monday to lead Burlington Central's boys soccer team to a 4-0 Big Northern East win over Marengo.

Both of Alvarado's goals were assisted by Danny Conran.

Nate Parks added a goal and an assist for the Rockets (11-4-2, 5-1-1) and Scott Knewitz had the other goal.

Kyle DeRaedt was in goal collecting 4 saves for the Rockets.

Boys soccer

Hampshire 3, Harvard 1: The Whip Purs (11-6-2, 4-3) defeated Harvard in the Big Northern East. Dustin Sundquist scored an unassisted goal in the first half for the Whips while Shay Hauck and Tommy Gilbert scored in the second half, Hauck's on an assist from Austin Buck and Gilbert's on an assist from Mic Anderson. Cameron Rath was in goal for Hampshire collecting 9 saves.

Women's soccer

ECC 1, Waubonsee 0: The Spartans (11-1) won the Illinois Skyway championship with this victory over Waubonsee. Scoring the only goal for Elgin was Taylor Cassidy off an assist from teammate Stephanie Mariotti. Mariotti was also in net and tallied 5 saves for the Spartans.
