Mom accused of DUI with 2 kids in the car

A Palatine woman faces child endangerment charges after police said she drove drunk with two of her kids in the car.

According to Hoffman Estates police, Sheetal A. Desai, 36, of 947 Aster Ave., was pulled over about 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Route 59 near I-90, now known as Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.

She was initially stopped for disobeying a traffic signal, driving too fast for conditions and improper lane usage, police said.

But during the stop, police discovered Desai had her two children, ages 3 and 5, in the car with her and determined there was cause to charge her with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

She was also charged with child endangerment.

Desai was released on $3,000 bond with a next scheduled court date of Jan. 15, according to police records.
