Thanks for backing special recreation

It is truly my pleasure as a member of the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) team to work with a number of very generous businesses in DuPage County. It is also my privilege to work with so many outstanding individuals who understand the impact they can have in their community. And I am continually humbled by the outpour of support that both of these groups grant us.

On Friday, Sept. 21, the Bloomingdale Outback Steakhouse donated a very special luncheon for WDSRA. Not usually open for lunch, Outback served up their delicious specialties for more than 140 people. In addition to this very generous corporate contribution made by the Outback, the staff, headed up by manager Salomon Diaz, volunteered their time to serve our guests. The service was superb!

If that wasn't enough, we also had the support of some very gracious "celebrity" hosts. District 108 Superintendent John Butts, Bloomingdale Park District Director Steve Scholten, state Sen. Carole Pankau , Bloomingdale Mayor Bob Iden and state Rep. Franco Coladipietro joined us. WDSRA had many business friends and supporters in attendance.

We thank each and everyone who joined us. It is because of your continued support that we at WDSRA are able to provide quality programs to our participants and have been doing so for three decades.

WDSRA offers more than 1,000 programs, trips and special events to more than 8,000 individuals with special needs each year. Additionally, WDSRA educates the community through schools, social services, agencies, park districts, and special education cooperatives. WDSRA is a not-for-profit organization and a cooperative extension of nine park districts including Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton and Winfield.
