Trombley has been the master of spin
Steven Trombley, president of the Chicago chapter of Planned Parenthood, excels at putting spin on the sensitive issue of providing abortion services. He claims in recent interviews that the recently opened Aurora clinic is filling a void for women's health services in the local community.
A little research shows that women's health needs are already being met by a wide array of providers in the area. Information on birth control and sexually transmitted diseases are also readily available through these same providers and are part of the state-mandated health curriculum in area high schools. A search of yellow pages even indicates the presence of several abortion service providers. The only thing that was lacking was an abortion clinic with the Planned Parenthood label on it.
Trombley stated in a July 29 interview in the Beacon News that women have to travel great distances to reach the closest Planned Parenthood abortion clinic on the north side of Chicago. So it appears that this clinic is more about making Planned Parenthood abortions more accessible than the stated reason of filling a void for women's health care in the Aurora area.
He stated in an Oct. 2 interview featured in several local papers that the clinic will do more to prevent abortions than any pro-life protester. What he conveniently overlooks is that Planned Parenthood will also do more to promote and facilitate abortions than any organization in the Chicago metropolitan area.
Like many entities engaged in morally repugnant activities, Planned Parenthood cloaks its controversial abortion service with layers of services and activities accepted by the community. It's called sugar-coating, Mr. Trombley. You, and your cronies at Planned Parenthood, are very good at it!
