Check out what's up with League of Women Voters
As part of the current restructuring and fall membership drive, the Elgin Area League of Women Voters will hold a "What's Up Soup and Sandwich Supper" at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the community room at the Tyler Towers, 1450 Plymouth Lane in Elgin.
Planned for prospective and new members, everyone is invited to learn where the league is going, what it's doing, what's ahead and why you will want to join in the efforts.
The league has recently revamped the meeting format to more easily accommodate the active lifestyle of current and prospective members.
The event is free and open to all current members as well as any man or woman interested in the work of the league. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, and works to increase understanding of major policy issues. Currently, committees on immigration, mental health, education, environmental issues, affordable housing and election reform are working to influence public policy through education and advocacy.
