Police arrest 1 suspect, seek 2nd in burglary
Police searched for one man and apprehended another after a residential burglary Monday in Barrington.
A witness saw two people burglarizing a residence around 1 p.m. and called police. When the burglars fled from the residence in a white SUV, the witness followed the vehicle and updated police as they attempted to get away, Barrington-Inverness police officials said.
The witness followed the vehicle into Lake Zurich, where the suspects hit a vehicle as they entered a parking lot near Route 12 and Cuba Road after spotting police, officials said.
The suspects fled on foot after the crash, police said.
Kildeer police arrested one suspect, but police were still searching for the other, who was wearing a forest green jacket, late Monday, officials said.
Police declined to release the name of the man they apprehended.
Police notified area schools that they were looking for someone, which delayed student release at Lake Zurich Middle School South for a short while.
"It was never a lockdown; they just delayed everything a few minutes," Lake Zurich police Cmdr. Kevin Finlon said.
Finlon said officers would continue looking for the second suspect all night, but perhaps not as intensely. The SUV has been turned over to Barrington police.
Kildeer, Lake Zurich, Wauconda, Lake County sheriff and Illinois State police officials assisted Barrington-Inverness police with the incident, officials said.
